A Mother's Prayer

Oh give me patience when tiny hands
Tug at me with their small demands.
And give me gentle and smiling eyes;
Keep my lips from sharp replies.
And let not fatigue, confusion or noise
Keep me from sharing my child's new found joys.
And most of all, help me to look above
When at times I think I have no love.
For You have promised to bear my load
As these precious lives unfold.

Dinner @ Olio Demsey

This is our very first family "outing", which we took just after Natalie turned a month old. Although it was all smiles on the front, silently I was going through almost the worst period of my life, just starting to have slight post-natal depression.

During this period, I was greatly affected by how Natalie and I were being treated. I felt the unfairness and unequal treatment and attention towards my daughter, feeling so much like a stranger "there". At the same time, I was very torn between going back to work or becoming a stay-at-home-mom. I had no support if I choose to look after Natalie at home.  It was the beginning of the many dilemmas and decision makings to come.

And just a few days back, I had a bad fall in the kitchen in the middle of the night, which resulted in bruises on both knees and chin (that's why I'm covering my chin with my hand).
